All horses entered in the stock horse contest must also be used in at least one of the roping events. The stock horses can be ridden in a snaffle, hackamore, two-rein, or bridle (no broken mouth piece bits).

Stock Horse Contest



Ranch Style Doctoring: Three man teams sort two head individually out of a herd with minimal disturbance. Calves will be headed and healed. This will show both livestock handling and roping ability. A reata must be used in this event.

Beginners Calf Branding: ropes must be at least 50’ long, reata not required, one head. Only the beginner will be judged.

Reata Calf Branding : Three man teams rope three head out of a herd. This is a judged event with a time limit. A reata must be used in this event.

Traditional California gear is recommended and appreciated.
